WELCRON is expanding its vehicle protection business by supplying advanced add-on armor solutions for armored vehicles exported to the Middle East.

At its defense production facility in Gimhae, Korea, WELCRON develops and manufactures advanced composite protection solutions for personal, vehicle, and other defense applications.

The company’s add-on armor is manufactured using advanced composite materials, including ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and ceramics. The manufacturing process includes material lay-up, high-temperature and high-pressure molding, ceramic integration, machining, inspection, and protective finishing to meet the requirements of individual defense platforms.

WELCRON has strengthened its research, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities through continued investment in advanced production equipment, including large-scale presses and autoclave systems for composite materials.

The company has also conducted multiple protection tests in Europe as part of its efforts to validate and improve its vehicle protection technologies and meet the requirements of global defense customers.

A key example of WELCRON’s growing international business is its participation in armored vehicle programs for the Middle East. Add-on armor manufactured at the Gimhae facility is being supplied for installation on wheeled armored vehicles produced by a major Korean defense manufacturer for export to the region.

WELCRON is also pursuing opportunities to participate in armored vehicle programs for Eastern Europe and other international markets, while expanding the development of protection kits for next-generation combat vehicles.

Building on its expertise in advanced composite materials, WELCRON DEFENSE will continue to strengthen its capabilities in Vehicle Protection, including add-on armor and mine protection solutions, while expanding cooperation with global defense manufacturers and system integrators.
