WELCRON signed a KRW 19.1 billion contract with South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) to supply approximately 68,000 military ballistic plates for personal protection.

The contract represented WELCRON’s largest defense order at the time following the acquisition of Smart Composite in 2018 and marked the company’s third ballistic plate supply contract with DAPA since its first military ballistic plate contract in 2018.

The ballistic plates are manufactured using advanced composite materials, including ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and ceramics, to provide protection against ballistic threats while being integrated into military body armor systems.

The plates supplied under the contract were designed to meet NIJ Level IV ballistic performance requirements, including protection against armor-piercing rifle threats.

WELCRON had previously developed and supplied a range of personal protection products for Korean military and law-enforcement organizations, including ballistic and stab-resistant vests, protective flotation vests, and ballistic plates.

Building on its experience in personal protection, the company continued to expand its defense business into advanced protection solutions for vehicles and naval platforms
